Research & DevelopmentTISEC engages in an ongoing program of research and development to complement and expand its non-destructive evaluation capabilities. We also perform contract research for outside customers. Current areas of combined research include both active and passive guided wave technology with specific topics in each of the following areas:
The ongoing goal of our R&D program is to develop new equipment and improved techniques for monitoring the safety and integrity of critical structures and components. Some of the recent advances resulting from these combined R&D efforts include the development of equipment and techniques for the long term remote monitoring of fatigue crack activity on bridges. As well, the development of enhanced active wave transduction methods using EMAT's permits the detection of cracks and anomalies in complex assemblies that cannot be monitored by other techniques. Our new R and D programs are looking at the application of knowledge-based technologies for NDT, data interpretation, fault condition identification, determining the cause of fault conditioning, and processing remedial actions.
